About

How This Started

Living Music Foundation began in Mbarara in  year 2018Disan Kato Tusiime, a musician working in the region, started teaching children who had no way of ever touching an instrument. It grew from there: more schools, more communities, volunteers from abroad who came to teach for a month.

In December 2023 a charitable association, Living Music Foundation e.V., was registered in Germany to fund the work. The teaching has always been done here, by Ugandan teachers, in Ugandan communities.

Who Does What

Living Music Foundation Ltd, Mbarara, does the work: the teaching, the fieldwork, the instruments.

Living Music Foundation e.V., Germany, raises the funds and is accountable to the donors. Donations are received in Germany and sent here.
