Visiting this website

The website is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). To send you the pages and to protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the time of access and your browser type. We do not keep these data ourselves and do not use them to identify you. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

This website uses no cookies and no advertising tools. Fonts are stored on our own server, so no connection to Google Fonts is made.

Counting visits

To know how many people visit which pages, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, provided by the same company that delivers the website. It counts page views, the page you came from, your country and your type of device. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not create a profile and does not follow you across other websites. Your IP address is not used for this. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Contact form and email

When you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, the topic and your message. The form sends them by email via Cloudflare to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google (Gmail). We use your details only to answer you and to handle your request, for example a volunteer placement. Legal basis: your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in answering it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We keep your messages for as long as the conversation needs them and delete them no later than twelve months after it has ended, unless we are required by law to keep them longer.

Videos

Our videos are hosted on YouTube. Until you click a video, no connection to YouTube is made; you only see a preview image stored on our own server. When you click, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) receives your IP address and technical data. Legal basis: your consent, given by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Links to other websites

Links to our donation page, to YouTube, Instagram and Facebook lead to other websites. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Your rights

You have the right to know which data we hold about you, to have them corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to their use, and to receive them in a portable format. Write to us at the address above.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the European Union to the authority in your country, in Uganda to the Personal Data Protection Office under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
