What fieldwork means.
We do not wait for children to come to us. Every week our teachers load keyboards, guitars, amplifiers and generator into a vehicle and drive out to the communities around Mbarara. We set up, we teach, we pack everything again and we come back the following week.
Most of these places we reach have no instruments, no music room and often no electricity. That is exactly why we go there.
A day in the field.
We leave in the morningwith the vehicle loaded. setting up takes an hour. Then we teach for around four hours – Keyboard, guitar, drums and singing, in groups, from complete beginners upwards. in the afternoon everything is packed again and brought back to Mbarara. One community, one day, every week.
Where we work.
We currently serve two school Communities
Open Skies School – Byanamira is a primary school with the kindergarten section. Every Thursday, we come here to teach 10 children both girls and boys of Primary three, four and five with the intention of building players and choir leaders.
Nyakyeera United Secondary School – Ntungamo. Every Wednesday, we travel to this school to teach 19 students in different disciplines with an intention of forming a school band for their internal and external performances.
Revival Junior School – Mbarara has been identified with a need to develop the music skills of their children in playing music instruments starting September 2026
We choose partners not by where the children are, but by which school is willing to contribute something itself – a fixed slot in the timetable, a named teacher who stays in the room, a cupboard for materials.
What the children learn.
Keyboard, guitar, drums and voice. Everyone starts as a beginner. Lessons are free and always will be.
